Nob Hill Dental

Comprehensive Dentistry for the Entire Family

At Nob Hill Dental, we serve patients of all ages, and we offer a wide range of dental services. We know there's no shortage of San Francisco dental offices, so we've worked hard to build a practice that provides the services you and your family need. We're close to a number of neighborhoods, including Russian Hill and Pacific Heights, so please call us if you're looking for a Russian Hill dentist or a Pacific Heights dentist.

Unlike many San Francisco dentists, we believe in conservative dentistry. This means we focus on prevention, and we don't prescribe treatments you don't really need. With regular visits, we can diagnose and treat problems early, long before they become painful and expensive. That's neighborhood dentistry!

In addition to traditional services, we also offer a number of restorative and cosmetic dental procedures. There's something at Nob Hill Dental for every member of the family!

Routine & Preventive Care

Did you know that toothbrushes cannot always reach down into the deepest grooves of teeth? Dental sealants help solve this problem by filling in grooves on the chewing surfaces of your back teeth. This is where food particles settle, which is a leading cause of cavities. The sealant application is fast and comfortable and can effectively protect teeth for a number of years.

Over time, plaque wears away at tooth enamel. This process is known as "demineralization." Fluoride, a naturally-occurring mineral, promotes remineralization of enamel, strengthening the teeth and protecting them against decay. Fluoride has also been shown to help reverse tooth decay in the early stages. Children with newly-erupted teeth (especially permanent teeth) have the most to gain from fluoride exposure, but nearly everyone should make sure their teeth come in contact with fluoride. The safest and easiest way to do this is to use fluoride toothpaste. We also offer a number of gels, rinses, and in-office fluoride treatments to safely increase fluoride exposure.

The neighborhood dental team at Nob Hill Dental can create a custom-fitted plastic mouthguard to protect your teeth, gums, lips, and cheeks from sports-related injuries. Athletic mouthguards can even help prevent severe injuries to the face, jaw, and head.

Have you been told or do you suspect that you grind your teeth at night? If so, you may be suffering from a condition called bruxism, which is not only harmful to your teeth, but may also cause additional problems like jaw pain and headaches. Let us help you protect your teeth from the effects of teeth grinding with a custom nightguard. This plastic guard is worn at night while you sleep, and covers and preserves the teeth from grinding. Nightguards have also been shown to relieve jaw pain and headaches associated with grinding.

DURAthin veneers cover unsightly gaps, chips, and discolorations effectively, and unlike traditional veneers, DURAthin veneers beautify your smile without the removal of healthy tooth structure! Why drill into or shave down your teeth when a beautiful, safe, and durable solution is available that allows you to retain most, if not all, of your healthy tooth structure? Should you ever need or want to remove DURAthin veneers, you’ll be able to do so knowing that your natural healthy tooth< structure has been left intact!

Nob Hill Dental offers a number of safe and effective professional whitening options to help you show off a beautiful, bright smile!

Teeth Whitening

Opalescence® Boost is a one-hour, one-visit, in-office whitening system that is great for busy people like you! Boost uses a proven bleaching formula that whitens teeth effectively without ultraviolet rays or the heat of a whitening light. Boost’s formula also contains fluoride and potassium nitrate which strengthen enamel, increase your teeth’s resistance to cavities, and minimize tooth sensitivity.

We think you will be impressed by the excellent results that can be achieved in only an hour!

Would you rather whiten your teeth from the comfort of your own home? We're also proud to offer convenient take-home teeth whitening kits. Each kit includes a set of custom-made trays and a supply of professional-strength whitening gel. You’ll have noticeably whiter teeth in as few as two weeks!

Composite fillings are a mixture of quartz or glass filler in a resin that makes a tooth-colored dental filling. The end result is a practically invisible restoration that feels just like your other teeth. Composites are strong and durable. Additionally, because these fillings are bonded to teeth instead of mechanically held in place, the process is more conservative in relation to tooth structure and therefore more healthy natural tooth can remain. The end result? Less noticeable fillings!

San Francisco Restorative Dental Care

Restorative Dentistry

People with healthy teeth often take simple things like eating, talking, smiling, and even laughing for granted. However, if you’re one of millions of people who’ve lost healthy teeth, you know just how uncomfortable these simple pleasures can become. With restorative treatments at Nob Hill Dental, these simple pleasures can become easier again! We will happily work with you to determine the best restorative dental treatment options for your unique situation.

Dental crowns, also called caps, cover teeth to restore them to their natural shape and size after fractures, fillings, or weakening forces like teeth grinding. In all these cases, crowns not only cover teeth but provide added support. They can also be used to attach bridges, cover dental implants, restore significantly discolored or oddly-shaped teeth, and even to protect teeth in danger of breaking.

Crowns can be made of all-porcelain (ceramic) material, porcelain fused to metal, gold alloys, or base metal alloys. Because they mimic the appearance of natural teeth, our patients tend to prefer porcelain crowns. We'll be happy to discuss your options with you, so please contact us today.

Dentures have come a long way! If you need dentures for the first time, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the outstanding quality and comfort of modern dentures. Please call us today to learn more about our denture offerings.

You may have heard about dental implants, which are an increasingly popular option for patients of all ages who have lost one or more permanent teeth. A dental implant uses a small titanium screw as the replacement for the root portion of a missing tooth. Because the implants are biocompatible, they fuse naturally with the jaw bone and become a solid anchor for the natural-looking restoration that Dr. Pham eventually places on top.

Dental Implants

Implants look and function just like natural teeth! And unlike dentures, you won’t need to worry about slipping, clicking, or uncomfortable adhesives. They can even make it easier for you to eat the foods you love without apprehension. If you’re missing teeth or struggling with loose, ill-fitting dentures, please contact us today to find out more about dental implants!

Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars that come in in the upper and lower jaws. If your wisdom teeth are growing in incorrectly or they're causing crowding with your other teeth, then we will probably recommend that you get them removed. Otherwise, you might have to deal with infection, pain, or more serious issues with your tooth alignment. We want to reassure you that we do everything we can to make sure you are kept comfortable during the procedure.

Do you have a dental emergency? Don't wait in pain! At Nob Hill Dental, we make sure we can help patients find relief as soon as possible by reserving time in our schedule each day just for urgent cases. Common dental emergencies include a painful toothache, broken denture, knocked-out tooth, and a chipped or broken tooth. If you require immediate attention, call our office at 415-673-3311. Whether you are a new or existing patient, we'll bring you in right away. Get Emergency Dental Care!

San Francisco Periodontal Care

Periodontal (Gum) Care

According to the American Academy of Periodontology, about half of American adults have gum disease. Gum disease ranges from gingivitis to the various forms and stages of periodontitis, and the prevalence of gum disease increases with age as teeth wear down. As time passes, gums naturally recede and become more sensitive. If your gums feel tender or sore, or if they look red and swollen, you may have some form of gum disease<. Other warning signs include bleeding, receding gums, pain or sensitivity in your teeth (and even loose teeth caused by weakening gum fibers or bone loss), and persistent bad breath. If left untreated, gum disease can lead to tooth loss as well as other serious health problems.

Treatment for Gum Disease

If you have any degree of gum disease, we can help. In the past, gum disease often required surgery. Many cases today, however, are first treated with less invasive techniques, such as deep dental cleanings, local antibiotics, and special mouth rinses.
